About
Andrea Lorenz is a freelance journalist based in Austin, Texas. Her blog, Journalism Classroom Notebook, chronicles high school journalism’s progression online. She is an adjunct journalism professor at Austin Community College and the journalism teacher and adviser at Dripping Springs High School.
Experience
Her professional journalism experience includes work as a staff writer and reporter on the metro desk at the Austin American-Statesman and a year-long internship as a features writer and reporter at The Kansas City Star. Her teaching experience includes instruction at Austin Community College and in Austin-area high school journalism classrooms. She also facilitates trainings on multimedia and online journalism for high school students and educators.
Education
She holds a master’s degree in journalism with a specialization in magazine writing from the Missouri School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from American University. She has been trained in multimedia journalism and computer-assisted reporting skills from The Poynter Institute and the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting, where she once worked as a data analyst.
